Scenario-based drills build that mode through repetition — which is how professional habits form, not through a slide deck explaining what hallucinations are.
Decision logging deserves particular attention because it serves two functions simultaneously. It builds individual accountability — the employee who knows their choices are documented is more likely to make deliberate ones. And it creates the organisational audit trail that makes error investigation possible when something does go wrong. It is the professional equivalent of a flight recorder: useless until you need it, and then the most important document in the room.
Step Three: Design Delivery That Keeps Pace
The final structural challenge of AI literacy training is that the subject matter moves faster than any traditional production cycle. A course built to be comprehensive today risks being misleading by next quarter. This is not a reason to avoid building training — it is a reason to build it differently, with currency as a design constraint from the start rather than something addressed in a future review that never quite arrives.
When AI training programmes underperform, the instinct is to attribute it to insufficient resources or time. Often the actual constraint is an assumption about format: that AI literacy training must be delivered as a formal course, through a formal production process, on a formal schedule. Challenging that assumption is not a shortcut. It is the work.
Putting It Together: From Passive Adoption to Active Oversight
